Fun on the Street!

Student groups from Southwestern High School will be out on the street in front of the opera mid-day with concessions. They promised to keep the root beer float tradition alive!
They will also be staffing several stations where kids can paint a masterpiece or draw one in chalk on the pavement. And it wouldn't be a puppet festival without a make-and-take puppet booth. Kids will have a chance to make a Pool Noodle Puppet, like the little blue guy here.

Between 11:30 and 1:30 p.m., the Hazel Green Lions Club will be selling lunch. These guys do the tasty concessions at Southwestern sports events and their reputation precedes them. Get ready for pork sandwiches, hot dogs, brats and hamburgers. The new Leo Club will be selling pop and chips.

And, to add to the fun, our friends, the Fever River String Band, will be performing on the street. True confession: We stole the idea for our name --- Fever River Puppeteers -- from this popular bluegrass group. You'll love 'em. Even though, we won't be performing with marionettes that day, there's something fitting about a STRING BAND at a puppet festival, don't you think?
