December events

We will have puppets for sale, as well a our new 2022 season flyers, at the Hazel Green Christmas Craft Show, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, in the Southwestern High School gym in Hazel Green.

Besides the little marionettes, I have been making what I call tabletop puppets. They are similar to the look of the marionettes, but without all those annoying strings. Instead, there is a simple wooden control peg at the back of the puppet’s head and another handle to manipulate one arm. They are easy to operate and won’t get tangled. But I will still have marionettes available for the traditionalists! And if you have ever purchased a marionette from me and it is hopelessly tangled, please bring it in and I will fix it for you.

Stock up for Christmas. These potential gifts are not stuck on a container ship or in a warehouse…

Next we will do two weekends plus two mid-holiday performances of

“Christmas Around the World”

11 a.m. & 2 p.m. Saturday Dec. 11

2 p.m. Sunday Dec. 12

11 a.m. & 2 p.m. Saturday Dec. 18

2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19

11 a.m. & 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29

See what happens when Elf Jingle messes with Santa’s “clockenschpiel” and gets transported to 10 different countries! Will he get back to the North Pole in time to help Santa deliver all the packages?

Please note that we are adding a performance on that Wednesday between Christmas and New Year’s because it is typically the most popular date of all — often a real full house.

We are braced to really enjoy this holiday season since we were not able to open the opera house last December. That said, we are requiring masks and hope that many of our kids will be vaccinated by then.

Let the holiday joy begin! I can’t wait to decorate the opera house again for Christmas. It is magical.
