September show

Hard to believe but 15 years ago this summer we (along with a lot of friends) were busy cleaning, scraping, painting and generally prepping our newly acquired Hazel Green Opera House for our first shows. It was kind of like awakening Sleeping Beauty.

Our first show was, of course, "The Lead Miner's Daughter," which also was our first show ever when we used to perform in Benton.

So, here we are. This year, for the first time in 25 years, we will not perform on Labor Day weekend (although I will be doing a make-and-take puppet workshop in the park at 1 p.m. Sunday.) We have noticed a trend in smaller audiences on the holiday weekend as families opt for a last camp-out etc. And we lost audiences the last 2 years as Benton changed up its big celebration to Sunday instead of Monday. So, we are changing it up, too. We will perform these two weekends in September. Come and see us. Who knows? Witch Hazel might make cupcakes.

"The Lead Miner's Daughter"

11 a.m. & 2 p.m. Sat. Sept. 7
2 p.m. Sun. Sept. 8
11 a.m. & 2 p.m. Sat. Sept. 14
2 p.m. Sun. Sept. 15

With help from a farmer, a cow and a badger, Adeline tries to save her father when an evil goblin imprisons him in a lead mine in old Wisconsin.
