Kids and adults had fun making the quintessential sock puppet in Pam Corcoran's workshop. Glue dots and sticky-back felt help make things go quickly, but the glue gun was still important.
The opera house is where people and puppets come together for fun! Adults find our shows enjoyable, too.
The opera house is home to "The Fever River Puppeteers" who perform marionette and other puppet shows seasonally. We offer occasional puppetry workshops for children and adults.
The building can be rented for birthday parties or other occasions, and is wheel chair accessible. We have tables and chairs and a small kitchen with refrigerator and stove.
Chuck and Sandye Voight began the Fever River Marionettes in Benton in 1993. Performances have included "Jack and the Beanstalk", "Rumpelstiltskin", and original tales like "Wolfie". Over the years the troupe included youth and adult volunteers, but currently the Voights perform as a couple.
The opera house became our home in 2004. We changed our name to "The Fever River Puppeteers" to include other forms of puppetry. We are members of the Wisconsin Puppetry Guild and the Puppeteers of America and have attended national and regional puppet festivals.
The opera house is located in the village of Hazel Green, one block east of Hwys 11 & 80. We are 20 minutes from Platteville, WI, Dubuque, IA, and Galena, IL.
